Federal Gun Rights Restoration
A new federal process could allow some people who lost their Second Amendment rights because of nonviolent criminal convictions to petition to have those rights restored.
Former DOJ official Ed Martin has now launched Firearm Rights for Americans, an advocacy group designed to help eligible people understand the federal and state restoration process and connect them with legal resources.
This raises an interesting question:
If someone committed a nonviolent crime, served their sentence, completed probation and stayed out of trouble, should their Second Amendment rights eventually be restored?
Or should losing firearm rights remain permanent after certain convictions?
